Think of the era and give it time
Ok this is the only game at present set during WW1. Which in my opinion is a damn shame. Though Matrix has a WW1 game on their books.

The game has its problems that there is no doubt. The music for a start is on the odd side and doesnt help with the atmosphere. The concept is old hat as well but some would say if it aint broke...... The idea of building the city and producing units doesnt quite fit with an historical theme but it was done in cossacks and that didnt stand in the way of its success. I personally am not a fan of this type of game I prefer pure combat without the building side of things but in this game it can be automated.

So why did I give this ame a four. Well it has something about it. The game feels WW1 like if that sounds right?! The concept of building and gathering resources for the pure reason of sending masses of troops to battle sort of rings true. The soldier animation is brilliant and the battles are not only huge but so damn WW1 like. Its fun just to turn on the automated building and the military advisor and watch a mini WW1 battle unfold on your screen, chemical weapons exploding men flying backwards after being hit by a machinegun grenades been thrown and just pure anihilation of the liveing.

The comp AI is good. It isnt a push over and trys to flank you nd other startegies seem to be used. The pathfinding of the tanks especially needs to be sorted which is being for a patch I believe. Some things are missing the main being trenches. This is also going to be implimented in an add on which is due out in the summer aswell as lots more units which to be honest will make this game far better and with this in mind it is worth the purchase.

Someimg up if you love the RTS build and fight and have a obsession like myself with WW1 and what to so mass battle sunfold before your eyes, with maybe not upto date graphics but graphics with a real WW1 feeling then this is the game for you.

There is a lot of bad press going around which in a way I can understand but I feel people are missing out on what the developers where trying to do and that is give this game a real WW1 atmosphere (they let themselves down a little with the music). The sound effects are good and the battleing soldiers are fantastic to watch.

Threnches are needed, more planes and ships and the pathfinding sorted out and maybe a change formation ( though they do march in formation) for the troops wouldnt go a miss. All these (except the formation bit) are going to be added with the add on so this in mind buy it. If however you have a severe hatrid of build and fight games then dont bother. I not really a fan but the WW1 theme and the way it has been done gives this game a feeling I dont find in others.

You must get this game....
Being a massive fan of Cossacks I was instantly drawn to Entente, the game is extremely similar but builds heavily on it with larger maps, a lot more units and options and a lot better graphics and animations. And with the game being set during World War 1, which is meant to be the first game ever to do this, it makes it a must buy!

amazing battles
ive been playing the game for a few days now and its definatley the game to get if you want big world war 1 battles. the scale of the armies you have to build is great. Compared to other RTSs it is fairly different. although you do mine resources like age of empires style, its not the same as you dont really need to control the workers, unless you want to build something. you can just build say a gold mine, and send 5 workers there, and leave them. you can even garrison them with troop (machine gunners best) which can help fend off any attacks. also the basic units, like infantry build fast compared to other games, meaning that an army of 100 units it pretty small for this game. the graphics are good for the size of the battles, but could be better. the animations are pretty good too. And you can have it at the pace you want, by altering the game speed. and the bigger units like tanks build much slower, so in multiplayer games you wont just get big boring tank battles like you do in most other RTS, where you rarely see infantry being used.
